Solon Snider is the musical director of the Yale Whiffenpoofs, the world’s oldest and best-known collegiate a cappella group. Solon’s public service accomplishments include election to Boys Nation as one of two representatives from Maryland; election by Maryland Boys State, administered by the American Legion, to Speaker of the House and Boys Nation Senate; selection to shadow the County Council Chair in Anne Arundel County, Maryland followed by serving as County Council Chair in the County’s Mock Government Program; winning the Chesapeake Bay Trust’s Student of the Year Award for environmental advocacy; serving as legislative liaison for the Chesapeake Association of Student Councils; and winning Coca Cola, Best Buy, and American Legion scholarships. Solon and iSolon are both named after the same Greek leader often credited with founding Greek democracy.
Solon is a music and theater major at Yale University. His musical and theatrical accomplishments include co-authoring and producing a musical at Yale University; winning a commission to compose a piece for the PRISM Quartet, one of America’s foremost chamber ensembles; performing in dozens of plays; performing as a cappella lead singer in the Bravo series Odd Mom Out and an extra in the Netflix series House of Cards; and winning 1st place in Maryland’s Student Composition Competition administered by the Maryland Music Educators Association.
